The neighborhoods of North Boise are known for their unique charm and character. From the historic allure of the North End, to the picturesque Highlands, to the elevated viewpoint of Quail Ridge, there’s something for everyone in North Boise. These neighborhoods are communities, the perfect place to settle in and build your own. Come with us as we explore the magical neighborhoods of North Boise!
Highlands:
Nestled against the Boise Foothills, the Highlands neighborhood offers breathtaking views of the city and beyond. With its tree-lined streets and spacious homes, the Highlands offer a peaceful atmosphere while still being within a short 10-minute drive to downtown Boise. Residents enjoy hiking and biking trails right from their backyards, nearby schools, and a Crane Creek Country Club (private - membership required for access) nestled in the middle of it all. Many homes boast expansive views and/or treehouse settings from their perch on the hillside, and the neighborhood does not follow a traditional grid structure, instead featuring winding roads and cul-de-sacs. The building era of the majority of homes spans from the late ‘60s to the ‘90s, with classic split level designs and grand view homes. Homes built in this era are being revitalized one by one with modern taste. The further up in the Highlands, newer builds offer a more contemporary style with refined lines and incredible views.
Boise Heights:
Located in the Boise foothills, Boise Heights is known for its friendly community atmosphere, reach out and touch city views, and Mid-Century architectural styles. Located directly between Hulls Gulch Reserve and Military Reserve, this neighborhood offers a plethora of hiking and biking trails. As the streets wind their way up into the foothills, the expansive views are center stage. This neighborhood also features a highly rated school district, and a short walk to North Boise restaurants, bars, and shopping.
Somerset:
Situated right next to Boise Heights, Somerset is a residential neighborhood with a distinct luxury feel. The area boasts well-manicured lawns, community parks, and a range of amenities including a community pool. Families are drawn to Somerset for its excellent schools and family-oriented environment. As you stroll through the streets of Somerset, you'll encounter homes both newly built and established homes with a strong sense of place.
North End:
Perhaps the most iconic Boise neighborhood, the North End is a historic and eclectic neighborhood known for its tree-lined streets, historic homes, and vibrant local culture. This area is perfect for those who appreciate architecture and history, with many homes dating back to the early 20th century. Hyde Park, a popular area in the North End, offers unique shops, restaurants, and a lively atmosphere. This neighborhood also features incredible walkability/bikeability to downtown Boise and is a part of the highly rated Boise school district.
West End:
Boise's West End is a dynamic neighborhood between Esther Simplot Park and downtown Boise. The West End has been rapidly growing with trendy cafes and restaurants. This neighborhood boasts proximity to the Greenbelt walking and biking paths, the Boise River, and Quinn’s Pond, a man-made lake featuring beaches and nearby rental center for paddle boards and kayaks. The Boise Whitewater Park is also located in this neighborhood. With lots of family activities and new businesses popping up every year, this neighborhood is sure to grow with you!
West North End:
The West North End combines the best of both worlds – part historic charm of the North End and part evolving vibrancy of the West End. With a more traditional grid layout and mature trees, these homes offer a peaceful suburban escape, yet are close to the buzz of downtown and the North End. This neighborhood is a short drive to Downtown Boise and other destinations.
Arrowhead Ridge:
Perched atop a canyon ridge surrounded by preserved natural areas, this neighborhood is a tranquil escape. Arrowhead Ridge homes are characterized by custom-built spacious homes, large lots, and a peaceful ambiance. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to hiking trails, while families will find comfort in the relaxing surroundings of Arrowhead Ridge. This neighborhood is still within the Boise school district and is close to Quail Hollow Golf Course!
Quail Ridge:
As one of North Boise's most established foothills neighborhoods, Quail Ridge offers a well-planned community full of amenities including neighborhood parks, a swimming pool, pickleball and tennis courts, and community spaces. With easy access to the Boise foothills, this neighborhood is perfect for recreation. Homes in this area were predominantly built in the ‘90s, giving Quail Ridge its classic feel with arched windows and brick exteriors. This neighborhood also has stunning views and abundant wildlife, and is within the Boise school district.
