Horseback Riding Trails:

The Treasure Valley is full of scenic trails waiting to be explored on horseback. Meandering through the Boise foothills and up to Bogus Basin, these trails have vistas of rolling hills, forested pockets, and high desert expanses that are breathtaking. Whether you are an experienced rider looking for a challenge or a beginner looking for a gentle ride, the horseback trails in the Treasure Valley have something for everyone.

Boise Foothills

The Boise Foothills have almost all of their pedestrian trails open to equestrian use. Some trails offer wider paths and better sight distances than others, and a list of the best trails for horseback riding in the foothills is offered by Ridge-to-Rivers that includes Table Rock, Peggy’s, Homestead Trail, and Corrals.

Bogus Basin

Most of the trails at Bogus Basin Recreation Area are multi-use and open to horseback riders in the summer months. You can start from the Bogus Basin Recreation Area trailhead or the Frontier Point Nordic Lodge at Bogus Basin. Bogus does offer some trails that are downhill biking only, so make sure you stick to multi-use trails while enjoying this beautiful mountain.
