6 Dog Parks in the Treasure Valley

Did you know that Idaho is in the top 3 states for pet ownership? That’s right, 70% of Idahoans own a pet, and 33.3% own a dog. After a long winter here in the Treasure Valley, we and our furry friends are itching to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. Fortunately, Boise and the surrounding area are dog-friendly cities, with multiple parks to take your pup for outdoor play and exercise. Here are 7 popular dog parks throughout the Treasure Valley. 1. Morris Hill Park 10 N Roosevelt Street, Boise Located on the Boise Bench, this 1-acre fenced area has two sections for dogs, a shelter with picnic tables, and adorable agility course obstacles. The dog park portion is wood-chipped. The surrounding park has plenty of grassy areas, a playground, and picnic shelters. Credit: City of Boise 2. Fort Boise Dog Park 733 Mountain Cove Road, Boise Situated in northeast Boise just north of downtown, Fort Boise is well known for its many hiking and biking trails and the infamous military reserve cemetery dating back to 1906. Recent upgrades to the area include a new fenced-in dog park, with chat surface material. The area also provides controlled dog off-leash trails that wind up into the foothills, giving you and your dog plenty of room to run! Credit: City of Boise 3. Together Treasure Valley Dog Island 3417 Crescent Rim Dr, Boise One of Boise’s most popular fenced-in dog parks, this 5.4 acre dog park is located in the southwest corner of Ann Morrison Park. Surrounded by waterways fed from the nearby Boise River, this park is a perfect fit for any water-loving pooches! Ducks and geese are abundant in the water and surrounding park. This park is a favorite for the sprawling grass, tree cover, large “shy/small dog” enclosure, and picnic shelters. This park features new amenities such as; agility course obstacles, paved walkways, shade shelters with picnic tables, mutt mitt stations, landscaping with trees, and separate large and small dog areas. Amity Dog Park 2nd Street S and E Amity Avenue, Nampa This large dog park features 6-acres of open grass and graveled play areas for people and pets to interact with each other. Featuring a swimming pond and dock for dogs, drinking fountains for people and dogs, shade shelters, a ‘shy/small dog’ enclosure, trees, walking paths, and benches this Nampa dog park just about has it all! Honorable Mention: Harrison Hollow Off-Leash Trails 2899 N Harrison Hollow Ln, Boise One of the most popular dog off-leash areas in Boise, Harrison Hollow provides miles of hiking for you and your furry friend with incredible city views.
