Check out our list of May happenings in Boise! First Thursday: May 2nd. This month, First Thursday falls on May 2nd in Downtown Boise. Local businesses have a wide variety of in-store events, including food and beverage tastings, local art exhibits, retail trunk shows, live music, family activities, and entertainment. These events typically run from 5-9 p.m., so head down to Downtown and take a walk around this fun exhibition of local businesses! Photo by Lysi Bishop Real Estate Cinco De Mayo Fiesta: May 5th. Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with traditional Mexican folk dances at the Warehouse Food Hall. Experience vibrant rhythms, colorful costumes, and rich heritage in an immersive showcase of authentic choreography and music! This event includes performances by Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo beginning at 5:30 p.m. Photo credit to Unsplash Ballet Idaho: Carmen & Walking Mad: May 3 - 5th. An exciting night of ballet full of passion, intrigue, murder, and madness is being put on by Ballet Idaho this May. The performance is of Carmen & Walking Mad, an intense and sometimes comical story told through scenes created by nine dancers and an ever-changing wall. This event will take place at the Velma V. Morrison Center for Performing Arts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and tickets can be found here. Photo Credit to Ballet Idaho Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival: May 9 - 11th. Craft lovers are sure to enjoy the Quilt, Craft, and Sewing Festival taking place at Expo Idaho on May 9th - 11th. This festival promises a variety of sewing, quilting, needle art, and craft supply exhibits from quality companies. Admission is free and this festival is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Photo Credit to Adobe Stock Boise Flea Market: May 12th. Located at Boise State in the East Stadium Lot, this vintage and handmade market happens every second Saturday of the month. This market features everything from vintage clothing and furniture to handmade items and jewelry. This family-friendly event celebrates Greek heritage and culture through Greek cuisine. Taking place at Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, this event will include authentic Greek food, homemade Greek pastries, a live Greek band, Greek dancing, and more!
