How to Dispose of Live Christmas Trees in the Treasure Valley

Photo Credit: Unsplash As the holiday season winds down, many of us face the daunting task of disposing of our Christmas trees. Fortunately, residents in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa have eco-friendly options to recycle their live trees and contribute to wood waste recycling programs.    Boise: In Boise, residents can recycle live trees by either chopping them into segments that fit in their compost cart or by taking the trees whole to the Ada County Landfill. The landfill accepts Christmas trees from December 26 to January 7, and trees brought during this period will be recycled through the wood waste recycling program. If you are opting not to recycle your tree, you can cut it into segments and place it in your garbage bin. Whole trees placed on the side of the road will not be collected.   Meridian: Meridian residents can participate in tree recycling from January 2 to January 6. Simply leave your whole tree, free of decorations, by your trash bins on the regularly scheduled pickup day. If your tree exceeds six feet in length, chop it into manageable sections and bundle them together. A separate truck will collect trees.   Nampa: Nampa residents looking to recycle their whole, live trees can take advantage of the tree drop-off at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. This service is available from December 26 through mid-January. Look out for signs posted near the cemetery that will guide you to the drop-off location. Before dropping off your tree, ensure it is stripped of all decorations and lights.
