As Boise continues to expand, one of the most promising areas for growth is the Ten Mile Road and Interstate 84 interchange. Located just west of Eagle Road, this area is becoming a new hotspot for both businesses and residents, slowly transforming from rural farmland into a bustling commercial and residential hub.

With Idaho's population growth, the area around Ten Mile Road has already seen significant commercial development. High-profile businesses like Scheels, which opened in April 2024, and other recognizable names such as Starbucks, Dutch Bros, and Chick-fil-A are helping to shape the area. Retail centers like Ten Mile Crossing are becoming key destinations, and new concepts are drawing even more attention.

While the development is exciting, local leaders emphasize the importance of responsible growth. Bob Fleming of RADIX Construction notes the bittersweet aspect of transforming farmland into commercial and residential spaces. However, he and others like Sean Evans of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce are optimistic about balancing growth with quality of life. The upcoming development of The District at Ten Mile, a 222-acre mixed-use project, promises additional housing and office space to meet the needs of a growing community.

As the area continues to evolve, the hope is that Ten Mile Road can achieve its ambitious goals as a focal point and business hub for the area—but with careful planning to ensure the Treasure Valley remains a place that both new and long-time residents love. The future is bright, and with responsible development, Ten Mile Road is poised to be the next major gateway for Boise’s growth.
